Tanzania Equity Watch | 29 July 2015: Tanzania equities lose US$84 Mil, All Shares index 0.8% down, domestic index 0.4% gains
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (Capital Markets in Africa):- The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange index (DSEI) lost 20.29 points or 0.80 percent to close at 2530.95 points but the Tanzanian domestic Share Index gained 15.93 points or 0.35 percent to end at 4547.56 points. The industrial & Allied sector index added 60.74 point or 1.00 percent to end at 6127.46 points but Banks, Finance & Investment sector index reduced by 1.49 percent at 2,967.95 points. Commercial Services sector index remained flat to end at 3,953.28 points.
The market capitalization lost TZS 173 billion (about US$84 million) to end at TZS 22,150 billion relative to market capitalization of TZS 22,324 billion recorded at previous trading session.
Today, the Dar Es Salaam Stock recorded a total turnover of TZS 171.37 million from 323,395 shares traded in 58 deals compared to the previous session which recorded a turnover of TZS 53.50 million from 129,173 shares traded in 78 deals. CRDB had 308,117 shares traded in 21 deals. National Microfinance Bank exchanged 5,510 shares traded in 8 deals and DCB Commercial Bank had 4,542 shares traded in 4 deals.
On the market strength/breath perspectives, the markets breathe ended negative today, with four gainer and 6 losers. Among the gainers was Uchumi Supermarkets Limited, which gained 7.14 percent to end at TZS 150.00 and Tanzania Breweries Limited ended at TZS 14,740 by adding 1.52 percent. Acacia Mining Limited also surged by 1.33 percent at TZS 7,620 and Tanzania Portland Cement Company advanced by 0.58 percent to trade at TZS 3,450.
KCB Group was the top losers with a price reduction of 3.67 percent at TZS 1,050. National Microfinance Bank ended at TZS 2,810 after plunging by 2.43 percent, News Media Group plunged by 2.37 percent to settle at TZS 3,710 and East African Breweries Limited fell by 2.34 percent to conclude at TZS 5,850. Swala Gas & Oil also tumbled by 0.90 percent to trade at TZS 550 and Jubilee Holdings Limited closed at TZS 11,305 after plummeting by 0.66 percent.
